What a wonderful week in Grade 5/6 — we held our Puberty Fair to celebrate change and share student learning with parents and the Grade 4 students.
The students guided visitors through different creative stations: personal timelines showing how they’ve grown and what’s ahead; clear, student‑friendly explanations of the endocrine system; milestones connected to Sandra Cisneros’s Eleven; “Islands of Personality” inspired by Inside Out that sum up each student’s passions and traits; a digital Puberty Passport where students recorded what they learned and the coping strategies they’ll use; and a Haiku Wall displaying poems and artwork about change.
Our art self‑portraits and the Changes Wall (our unit provocation) were also on display, along with students’ Compass Points outlining what they’re worried about, what they need to know, what excites them, and the steps they’ll take to prepare.
It was a meaningful event — parents and Grade 4 students listened, asked questions, and encouraged the Grade 5/6 students. The fair showcased students’ confidence, self-reflection, and communication skills.
Thank you to everyone who came — your presence made this important conversation warm and meaningful.
Have a wonderful weekend to all of you.
Your homeroom teacher,
Ms. Pam
