Celebrate the Learning

"Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn."
-Benjamin Franklin

This week in our Grade 5/6 class was full of excitement and meaningful preparation as the students geared up for two major events: their student-led conferences and the year-end concert.

The children took great responsibility in setting up the classroom environment for the conferences. They thoughtfully chose activities and projects they were proud to share with their families, showcasing their learning journey this year. It was wonderful to see them take ownership of their work and confidently prepare to lead discussions about their progress.

At the same time, the class was busy rehearsing for the year-end concert, scheduled for the same evening as the conferences. Balancing both preparations taught the students valuable skills in time management and teamwork. Their dedication truly paid off.

The evening was a fantastic success! Families enjoyed engaging with the students during the conferences, and the concert performances were lively and heartfelt. Everyone had a memorable time celebrating the hard work and growth of our Grade 5/6 learners.

We are so proud of the students for their enthusiasm, responsibility, and creativity. It was a joyful week full of learning and celebration!

Have a wonderful weekend to all of you.

Concert and SLC Preparation

This week in Grade 5/6 has been full of creative energy as the students prepare for two significant events coming up next week. The Upper Primary Concert is just around the corner, and the children have been practicing their songs and instruments with enthusiasm and determination.

Alongside their musical rehearsals, the students are also preparing for the upcoming student-led conferences. These conferences are a special opportunity for children to take charge and share their learning progress with their parents. This week, the Grade 5/6 students have been thoughtfully planning the activities they will present during the conferences. They are carefully selecting work samples, reflecting on their achievements, and organizing the room to create a welcoming and engaging space for their families.

Balancing the rehearsals for the concert and the preparation for the conferences has required the children to manage their time well and stay focused on multiple goals. It’s impressive to see their maturity as they juggle these activities with enthusiasm and care. The classroom atmosphere is filled with creativity and collaboration, as students encourage each other to do their best and share ideas for how to make both events successful.

Overall, this week has been a wonderful mix of music, reflection, and planning in Grade 5/6. The children have shown great commitment to their learning and to celebrating their achievements in meaningful ways. We are all looking forward to next week’s Upper Primary Concert and student-led conferences, where the students will proudly showcase their talents and hard work to their families and the school community.

Have a wonderful weekend to all of you.
